NSI Software, Inc. (NSI(R))
today announced that it has approved its flagship Double-Take(R)
data replication software product for use with any iSCSI
storage device. The testing process combined Double-Take
with iSCSI host bus adapters and devices from leading iSCSI
storage vendors such as Alacritech, Emulex, Intel, Intransa,
Network Appliance, Overland, SANRAD, and Maxxan.
NSI and iSCSI device
customers now have an added degree of assurance that they
can combine the highly complementary data protection
products from NSI and advanced IP-based storage devices from
virtually any iSCSI vendor.
iSCSI is a storage protocol
from the Internet Engineering Task Force designed to
transport SCSI commands and data blocks over IP networks.
Its economical implementation and interoperability have
rapidly contributed to the adoption of storage area networks
(SANs) in corporate enterprises and the mid-market.
According to Gartner Dataquest, iSCSI will connect nearly
1.5 million servers to SANs by 2006.
"The combination of
NSI Double-Take and iSCSI storage devices provides a
powerful continuous data replication solution," said
Bob Guilbert, vice president of marketing and business
development for NSI. "As more enterprises look to the
iSCSI protocol as a key enabler in lowering costs and
enhancing interoperability of their storage networks, we
look forward to helping them protect and safeguard their
corporate data."
Companies of all sizes can
deploy NSI Double-Take software in conjunction with iSCSI
for cost-effective, highly reliable data protection and
consolidation of key business applications and storage
devices. NSI Double-Take allows organizations to avoid
downtime by maintaining up-to-the-second copies of data that
are accessible the instant an outage occurs.
In addition to ensuring
continuous data availability, Double-Take can be used to
easily transfer backup responsibilities at branch offices to
a single, central corporate data center.
"IP-based storage is
dramatically changing the value models for storage area
networks, and the market for ISCSI devices in the data
center is poised for large scale growth," said Steve
Duplessie, founder and senior analyst of Enterprise Storage
Group. "By providing interoperability with ISCSI, NSI
Software is well positioned to capitalize on this
opportunity and expand the market for its data replication
software."
More than 180 of the
Fortune 500 and industry leaders in international banking,
finance, legal services and government utilize NSI
Double-Take to ensure minimal data loss and rapid recovery
from any disaster or system outage.
