Announces Interoperability with QLogic iSCSI Adapters for IP
Replication Capabilities
Companies Demonstrate Affordable, Verifiable Disaster
Recovery Solution at Storage Networking World
Storage Networking World Fall 2005
ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 24, 2005--Compellent
Technologies, a provider of affordable and modular
enterprise storage solutions, today announced integration of
QLogic Corporation's SANblade(R) QLA4010C iSCSI adapter for
Storage Center(TM), Compellent's modular storage area
network (SAN). The two companies are demonstrating the
solution's ease-of-use and ability to verify the integrity
of replicated data across the exhibit hall at Storage
Networking World.
By designing native support for iSCSI into Storage Center,
Compellent eliminates the need for third party Fibre Channel
to IP converters, making multi-site remote data replication
capabilities affordable and accessible to midmarket
companies.
Remote Instant Replay, the Storage Center application that
utilizes QLogic's iSCSI adapter, enables a company to verify
disaster recovery online without any downtime. Within
Storage Center, an administrator can create a Replay
(snapshot) of the replicating volume, while the replication
is still in progress, and map that Replay to a different
server to test and verify recovery.
"Though many companies are implementing disaster recovery
plans for their data, only a small percentage are able to
perform a verifiable test to determine if their business
data would be successfully restored following a
catastrophe," said Bob Fine, Product Marketing Manager,
Compellent. "We are pleased to work with QLogic to support a
fully testable and verifiable IP replication application
within Storage Center. Our use of QLogic iSCSI adapters is
yet another example of how Compellent is bringing
enterprise-class storage within reach of every
organization."
Compellent's open-systems hardware architecture enables the
continuous integration and adoption of new storage
technologies without forcing companies to replace or discard
their existing hardware and software investment.
"QLogic customers are deploying Compellent SANs to
consolidate storage for their business-critical
applications," said Roger Klein, vice president of QLogic's
Computer Systems Group. "QLogic SANblade iSCSI adapters help
companies build a reliable, secure and cost-effective IP
storage infrastructure."
QLogic iSCSI adapters enable administrators to use Ethernet
networks to transport and access storage. iSCSI is a
cost-effective and efficient interconnect for small to
midsize enterprises because it utilizes an organization's
existing IP infrastructure and does not require specialized
skills or training.
Storage Networking World takes place October 24-27, 2005 at
JW Marriott Grande Lakes Resort in Orlando, Florida.
Compellent is located in booth C1. QLogic is located in
booth P19.
