SAN RAMON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 2004--SBE Inc.,
(Nasdaq:SBEI), a leading provider of high performance OEM
board-level networking solutions, and PyX Technologies, an
OEM supplier of iSCSI protocol solutions, today announced
their joint iSCSI storage management solution designed to
deliver performance and reliability in a cost-effective and
easily deployable bundle. This collaborative solution will
be demonstrated at the SBE booth #202 at NetWorld + Interop
Las Vegas from Tuesday, May 11 through Thursday, May 13,
2004.
The SBE/PyX iSCSI solution
merges SBE's dual port Gigabit Ethernet TCP/IP Offload
Engine (TOE) board with PyX's fault tolerant, high
availability, uniform iSCSI software protocol. Fully
compliant with IETF iSCSI standards, this robust iSCSI
product delivers multi-path migration and Error Recovery
Level Two (ERL2) functionality. Featuring active trunking
and aggregation of port bandwidth, the SBE/PyX solution
ensures that there is no single point of failure on the
storage transport layer between any two iSCSI nodes while
simultaneously offloading the network protocol processing
from the CPU.
"Coupling PyX's
comprehensive iSCSI software with SBE's dual Gigabit
Ethernet TOE board enables us to deliver an optimally-priced
'iSCSI on demand' product to our mutual customers,"
commented William B. Heye, Jr. president and CEO of SBE.
"Given the many
benefits that iSCSI offers, such as high availability,
scalability, built-in investment protection, use of
widely-accepted Ethernet technology, and overall cost
savings, it is not surprising that demand for iSCSI
solutions is growing and analysts forecast impressive levels
of continued growth in the coming years. With our
development efforts on the TOE board, it was a natural and
seamless progression for us to spin an iSCSI offering from
our TOE card," continued Heye.
Available SBE/PyX solutions
include the iSCSI Initiator and the iSCSI Target. The
Initiator resides on a client PC or device connected to a
network and views storage on the Target as another local
disk, regardless of where it is located. The iSCSI Target
product resides on a storage server and is the destination
of the call from an iSCSI Initiator. The Target enables the
separation of the iSCSI protocol from the native storage
protocol (i.e. Serial ATA (SATA), SCSI, or Fibre Channel),
thus protecting existing hardware and infrastructure
investments while also offering the flexibility to take
advantage of future technologies with ease. The iSCSI Target
is compatible with all current 32/64-bit IP-compliant
platforms. Linux OS support is currently available for both
iSCSI solutions.
"PyX is pleased to be
teaming with SBE. By leveraging the expertise of our
respective companies, we are able to offer technologically
superior IP storage products for the enterprise and carrier
markets," said Andre Hedrick, president and CTO of PyX
Technologies. "We believe there is strong market demand
for iSCSI storage products, and SBE, with its robust family
of board-level storage solutions, is an ideal engineering
partner for us. We are looking forward to jointly producing
several more iSCSI enabled products with the SBE team as
customer demand continues to build," continued Hedrick.
